Chuck Goes Crazy

It’s a sad day on the Upper East Side. It’s the anniversary of Bart’s death and Chuck is going through it. Except Chuck won’t admit it! Blair can see it though, she knows that he is running around like a crazy man to stay busy. Blair tries to bring Chuck breakfast in bed but he brushes her off, what an asshole. But poor Chuck is coping, and the day os going to get worse for him. Talk about trigger warnings.

Tripp and Serena are off in a house to themselves and Serena grows suspicious because Tripp is gone for far too long and finds out that he was not with his grandfather Van Der Bilt like he said he would be. Where could Tripp be? Serena finds out that he was with Maureen, “talking.” She later receives a visit from Maureen and Maureen has a plan, a very devious one. Maureen makes Serena an offer she can’t refuse. Maureen tells Serena that they can both have what they want, Serena can be the “other woman” and Maureen can be the Jackie O. You would think that Serena would be used out being the other woman, but apparently she decided to keep her morals intact.

Chuck starts to see Bart everywhere he goes and hears him telling him some not so nice things as he goes about his day. The loss of Chuck’s father has hit him harder than he thought, and it looks like the anniversary of his death is resurfacing some repressed feelings for our lover boy. Poor Chuck. I just want to hug him and kiss him until he feels comforted. Bart’s ghost is urging Chuck to shut down a homeless shelter, push Blair away and isolate himself from his family. Stupid ghost of Bart.

Meanwhile, Serena confronts Tripp about Maureen’s proposition and what do you know? He was all for it. Douche bag. Tripp convinces Serena to ride with him back into the city and this asshole crashes the car! The next thing you know, the ambulance is picking up Serena. Serena “magically” ended up in the driver’s seat and Tripp was nowhere to be found. When word gets out that Serena is in the hospital, the Upper East Side stands still. Chuck starts having some major panic attacks and all I want to do is comfort the crap out of him! Serena is okay, but Chuck’s emotional well being is not. Poor thing.

Thanksgiving at the VDW's

It’s that time of year again, Thanksgiving on the Upper East Side. What’s on the menu this year? Drama, major drama. I mean what’s a holiday without some drama, anyways? Well to start it off, Blair suspects her mom is hiding something from her and she is convinced that her mother is pregnant! A little weird for her age, but I mean, hey, momma’s need love, too. Vanessa’s estranged mother is in town and let’s just say she’s a little too hippy dippy for these folk. To top it off, Lilly invites Tripp and his wife, Maureen to their Thanksgiving dinner. This is going to be fun.

So many lies come to surface during this episode that I don’t even know where to start. Maureen totally suspects that Serena and Tripp are having an affair, but nobody else does. Well, Nate and Blair do. And I’m pretty sure Chuck knows as well, because Blair probably told him. Lilly tells Rufus that her mother, Cece, will not be able to make it to their dinner because she is far too sick. This is a blow for Rufus Humphrey because like the family man he is, he’s very excited for Thanksgiving family time. Someone should’ve told him that his Brooklyn traditions should have stayed in Brooklyn. I sense a theme here. Anyways. Rufus calls Cece and asks her to join them for Thanksgiving and that he hopes she feels better, Cece let’s him know that she feels fine and decides to join them for Thanksgiving. It seems like Cece was never invited in the first place, fishy.

The Thanksgiving dinner goes from very small, to very crowded real fast. With guests like Cece, Vanessa’s mom, Eleanor, Tripp and Maureen Van Der Bilt, the drama is sure to stir up. Vanessa’s mom spews her opposing opinions out on everyone at the table and as if that wasn’t uncomfortable enough, Tripp and Maureen are sitting right across from Serena and are hiding that they’re planning a divorce. Not if Maureen can help it. Oh my gawd, so much drama.

Oh, Damien

Strange things are happening on the Upper East Side. This episode starts with Serena leaving Blair a message, or thirty, explaining that there is nothing going on between her and Tripp. Blair and Chuck are strolling through Central Park and discussing Blair’s plans to infiltrate a group at NYU. Blair is seeking a new group to rule, and Chuck is seeking to please an Ambassador staying at his hotel. Chuck is set out to take the Ambassador’s son out and about to get on his father’s good side. We’ll soon find out that Ambassador’s little boy is a very bad boy.

When Blair tries to get “in” with the writing crowd at NYU, she learns that her elite is not elite enough for this group. She uses her stepfather, Cyrus, to get in with them. Cyrus is a celebrity lawyer, and Blair is convinced she can get Cyrus to get Lady Gaga to perform at the Cabaret party that night. Blair is excluded from the party and the leader insists that she is not invited. How dare they treat Queen B that way? Not to fret, though, Queen B has a plan.
Blair joins up with Dan and Vanessa to write an original mini play using Lady Gaga’s songs as a theme. Blair writes and directs the play and uses Vanessa and Dan as co-writers and co-directors. Very out of character for Blair, but let’s be honest, the girl is desperate.

Over at the Van Der Woodsen’s Chuck drops some important things off to Lilly and explains that he is entertaining a very special hotel guest, Damien. After seeing a very mopey Little J, Lilly insists that Jenny accompany Chuck and Damien. Damien and Little J hit it off, and Chuck ditches them to take care of more important matters. Jenny finds out that the very mysterious Damien has a secret. He deals a lot of drugs, like a lot. As if his Ambassador Daddy money wasn’t enough. It’s a cry for help, I think.

Jenny gets sucked into Damien’s world and joins him on a few drop offs. I guess Little J needed to feel a rush. Oh, how boring it must be to be a rich teenager on the Upper East Side. Jenny runs into Chuck and he is all too eager to save Little J. Jenny insists that she’s fine and she is bored of being Queen at Constance, but Chuck ensures her that she is better than Damien. Yay, go, Chuck! I love when he’s all noble and ready to save the day. It’s a very good look on him.

They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?

It’s cotillion time in the Upper East Side! Cotillion is like a prom mixed with a ball, mixed with lots of money and very fancy dresses. And it’s tradition for every young debutant to participate. Well, if you want to be on anyone’s social radar you have to participate. Jenny is new to the Cotillion life, since her Dad recently got back with Lilly. Lilly is like way up on the social food chain and the Humphrey’s were originally towards the bottom, but their matrimonial union has brought the Humphreys way up. Lucky Jenny. Too bad she’s only expensive on the outside and Brooklyn on the inside.

Jenny has been acting up and Blair is starting to take notice. Blair bestowed the Constance crown to Jenny and she has been giving the monarchy a bad reputation. When word got out to Blair that Jenny was taking her power for granted, she was quick to swat that little fly right back down. Eric got on board with the plan because he’s witnessed firsthand the aftermath of Jenny’s nonsense, and quite frankly, he’s tired of it. As am I. I am so done with Little J’s shenanigans. She used to be cool, and now she’s at the top of my list. Next to Georgina Sparks.

Anyways, while Jenny is getting ready for Cotillion, Serena has other plans. Plans to seduce Tripp. Okay, maybe she didn’t plan to seduce him, but she sure has a hard time staying single for more than five minutes! Tripp is a married man, and a Congressman no less! Why does Serena always get herself into boy trouble? Talk about Daddy Issues.

Blair’s minions and insiders at Constance bring the big guns out as they try to derail Little J’s debut. However, Little J has a plan up her sleeves, and maybe even a couple guns of her own. Her biggest gun is her good friend, Nate Archibald. The minions try to sabotage Jenny’s date by getting the most eligible boy at school to ditch Jenny and escort some other girl who quite frankly is irrelevant. Anyways, Jenny can see right through this and wows everybody as she walks down those Cotillion steps with Nate Archibald. You go, Little J.

The Grandfather and the Escort

The parties continue on the Upper East Side, but this party is more political. Nate Archibald’s family is directly related to the Van Der Bilt’s. Nate’s mom is a Vanderbilt. This means they are loaded, like really loaded. But anyways, Nate runs into some problems this episode and his political background has everything to do with it. Blair and Serena are still in a fight, thanks to their beef from the previous episode. Well, Nate’s cousin, Tripp, is running for Senator and their grandfather, the Vanderbilt will stop at nothing to make sure Tripp wins. Well, atleast that’s what Nate and Tripp think. Nate and his grandfather are still on thin ice from when he abandoned Nate and his father when his father was arrested. Drama. Drama. Drama.

Serena is still trying her hardest to get on her boss’s good side at the publicist firm. She has a task to fulfill: Get her client, Patrick, photographed at the Van Der Bilt party. It’s going to be a party to remember because Chuck and Blair are directing the setup for the Van Der Bilt party. Chuck has successfully bought the Empire Hotel and is now staying in the penthouse suite. He shows it off to Nate, Tripp and Tripp’s wife, Maureen, who is not to be underestimated as we’ll soon find out.

Meanwhile, Serena and Blair run into each other and are tip toeing around an apology. Ugh, they are so stubborn. Blair insists that she has more friends, close ones, important ones, but Serena can see right through her. Serena tells Blair she can’t wait to meet them, and believe me, neither will you.
Back to the Van Der Bilt’s. Tripp is sure he’s going to lose the election, and it’s looking pretty close. But something happens. As Nate and Tripp are walking down the street by the water, a man “falls” into the water from the dock. Tripp valiantly jumps in to save him! Heroic, right? Not. Footage shot by Vanessa Abrams shows that the guy that “fell” into the water, didn’t fall at all. This dude jumped! So. Much. Drama. When Nate and Tripp find out that the man didn’t fall, they fear that they will lose the election from fraud. They also blame their grandfather Van Der Bilt for the fraudulence, despite his protests. Who did it? You’ll find out.

Later, at the party, Blair brings a friend that she met while shopping, Brendice. Brendice is a very nice girl, very likeable. She’s especially liked by the older congressmen. But little does Blair know, Brendice’s time has a price attached. Yes, Blair befriended a prostitute. Ah, Blair, the things you get yourself into.

How To Succeed In Bassness

It’s Halloween in the Upper East Side and you know what that means: Costumes, couture, and candy… probably not the kind that you eat. In this episode of Gossip Girl, Rufus and Lilly are contemplating their Halloween plans. Which really means that Rufus is trying to impose his traditions onto Lilly’s household. But somebody should’ve told Rufus that his kiddy traditions only have a home across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Meanwhile, at the Empire Hotel, Chuck Bass is discussing hotel booking business with Blair, and she insists that he should open up a club he has been thinking about to bring in more business. Not just any business, a fresher, newer business. Let’s just say this kind of crowd is worried more about having their fair share of debauchery rather than the turndown service. However, Blair’s idea of an 80s themed party is shut down and she suspects it’s because Chuck is still mad at her for using him in the last episode, Enough About Eve. Chuck obviously isn’t mad anymore. I mean, come on, of course he’s kissed boys before. His frustration is stemmed from him trying to be an independent entity from his late father, Bart Bass. This venture requires him to branch off on his own business ventures, which opening the club will hopefully solve. And with a theme like “Speakeasy,” it’s hard to think it won’t be a hit.

In other news, Serena is trying to prove to her mother that she doesn’t need to attend Brown this upcoming semester. She is constantly trying to show her mother that she is an adult, so she gets a job with a publicist company. However, little to her knowledge, she’s going to be taken for the ride of her life. And it wouldn’t be a Gossip Girl episode if somehow Serena’s job ventures didn’t somehow colliding with Chuck and Blair’s ventures. That’s exactly what happens.

Chuck magically gets the liquor license expedited so he is able to open up his club that night. Serena tries to prove her worth to her new boss by getting all of their clients on the VIP list for Chuck’s club. However, it turns out the liquor license was a fake and there are now tons of celebrities at an illegal club with illegal alcohol. Ooh, juicy. Of course, this leads to a fight between Chuck, Blair and Serena. To my contentment, Chuck and Blair are one side of that fight and Serena is on the other. I love that they were in it together. To be honest, that’s all I care about. Chuck and Blair stood by each other in this one, and quite frankly, that’s all I can really ask of them. Let’s hope it lasts.

Poor Chuck

Season 3 Episode 6, “Enough About Eve,” is a particularly irritating and sad episode because Blair, again let’s childish games come between her and Chuck. Even worse, she actually hurt Chuck! Emotionally, of course. The episode starts out with Blair dreaming. Blair always dreams in classic movies. This dream was in reference to All About Eve, and she played Bette Davis. It was declared that Vanessa was the chosen one, whatever that means, and Blair wakes up violently. Blair wakes up next to Chuck *heart eyes* and he assures her that she will one day get her reign back and not to worry about people that are beneath her. Blair’s head is riddled with the thought of giving the Freshmen speech at NYU.

Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, Vanessa is seeking the approval of her activist mother and is determined to impress her with her Freshmen speech at NYU. Hmm, two people can’t give the same speech… Unless you’re Melania Trump. *cough cough* Anyways, when Blair finds out that someone else is giving the Freshmen speech she goes crazy and obviously seeks to destroy whoever this person may be. Poor B, just wait until she finds out it’s Vanessa, she’s going to flip.

Blair has a particular kind of crazy in her eye when she finds out Vanessa Abrams is giving the Freshmen speech instead of her. But, Vanessa is tired of Blair’s shenanigans and in other words tells her to “F Off.” I think Vanessa deserves to give the speech because she is doing it for a more noble cause than Blair. Vanessa wants to win the love of her mother. Blair just wants to win.

Blair continues to squirm her way up to the top and is determined to bribe and blackmail whoever she needs to to get what she wants. Including Chuck. This does not sit well with me because obviously Chuck is my favorite between the two, and unlike Blair, he will admit when he is wrong. He’s so much better than her. Blair really hurts Chuck this time. She used him to get what she wanted and when he finds out what she did he confronts her. He explains to her that he can’t believe she manipulated him like that. He feels betrayed and degraded because the people Blair usually manipulates, she has no respect for. Poor Chuck. I was really mad at Blair when I saw this. I just want to give Chuck a hug!
