There’s nothing like a wedding on The Upper East Side. Especially when it’s the union of a Van Der Woodsen and a Humphrey. But don’t get too excited, it’s not the dream couple you may be thinking of. Rufus and Lily are tying the knot. Lily is Serena’s mom and Rufus is Dan’s dad. Weird, right? Yeah, I know. Just when you think that it couldn’t get any more hillbilly, in comes Scott, Rufus and Lily’s love child. Juicy, right? Well all the drama happens at Rufus and Lily’s “wedding not wedding.” I referred to it as such because even though they are having a wedding, they are in the middle of a huge fight that leaves them sleeping at separate apartments just days before the actual wedding. When they finally make up they learn that Scott, their love child who they thought was the brother of their love child, is actually their love child. And he shows up to the wedding. My head is spinning.
As if it wasn’t hard enough to wrap your head around all the drama concocting at this holy matrimony, Serena is facing some demons, herself. Her new love interest, Carter Basin, may or may not show up, leaving Serena distraught. Let’s get real, Serena is always distraught. I think she’s even more of a drama queen then Blair, and that’s saying something. Well, it turns out that Carter Basin is in some deep shit with the very wealthy family of a girlfriend of Nate Archibald. I told you not to blink. Nate previously dated Blair, then cheated on her with Serena, was with Blair again until she cheated on him with Chuck, then Chuck and Blair fell in love and Serena fell in love with like everybody else.
You may be asking where do my dynamic duo, Chuck and Blair, fit into all this? Serena is Blair’s best friend and even though they fight and bicker over seriously stupid things, Blair would never let anyone hurt Serena. Including Carter Basin. Blair is determined to find out what’s going on with Carter and more importantly, make sure she shows up to this wedding. Chuck, on the other hand, hates Carter and is determined to make sure he knows it. He let’s Carter’s enemies know that he’ll be coming to the wedding and advises Carter to leave town and be done with it. Carter is tempted to take the offer, but to my surprise shows up to the wedding anyway to tell Serena the truth about the trouble he’s in and expresses his feelings for her. Chuck is also surprised, and lets Carter know that he gives him props because he must really care about Serena to do something so stupid.
So here my dynamic duo are, caring for other people more than themselves. It is a rare trait for them, but it makes me love them more. *insert heart eyes*
